About Sound Move
Phyllida Furse
Qualifications
BA Hons (French and Italian), PGCE, ALAM (Public Speaking)
Experience
From a love of music (15 years with the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus) and language teaching (French and Italian) developed a passion for voice: how it is produced, how it sounds and its huge influence on the listener.
For the last ten years, Phyllida has worked extensively in both the educational and private sectors, coaching her clients to become clear, confident and dynamic speakers. The performance may be on stage, at interview, in the lecture theatre, in a classroom, in a sound studio or even via a pubic address system!
Polished pronunciation and expressive delivery are also taught to those working in French and Italian, be they singers, actors or business people.
Communication which is clear, coherent and concise, delivered in lively warm tones is what she helps people to achieve – often by making only small but highly significant changes to their style and language. Whatever the context, healthy and effective use of the voice is a top priority and underpins all her work.
Her range of work includes: delivering vocal health and development workshops to schools and local education authorities as part of INSET, presentational skills workshops to sixth form and undergraduates, pronunciation coaching for choirs, individual voice coaching for teachers and lecturers, finely tuning speech production when working with voice recognition computer programmes and preparing individuals for important presentations.

- An expert knowledge of different personality styles and an ability to help people learn and use these to understand and build better relationships with others.
- A repertoire of practical and effective ‘Classic Techniques’ (e.g. Influencing Styles) which she can explain quickly and can be used easily.
